I have been doing some soul-searching and seeking answers when I saw the inspirational message “Be The Best” in front of someone’s garden. I stood admiring the design for a little while, as it had a profound impact on me. Whether it was coincidental or not, I took the message to heart at a time when I needed it most.
I did not interpret it as telling me to be the best in my ability to connect with the other side, because that is impossible to achieve. There will always be someone more skilled than I am. The message is encouraging me to be the best person I can be on the inside, and that truly resonates with me.
Having the ability to be an instrument in service of the greater good is not enough; one must be clear about why they are in service. I want to utilise my ability to help others reconnect with their loved ones, bringing them peace, hope, and healing. I cannot imagine keeping this ability to myself; it would feel selfish and unfair. However, the best part is when I can make someone smile, despite the weight of their grief. Nothing gives me greater joy.
As for learning how to be the best on the inside, I have my nine-year-old daughter to thank for showing me the way.
