The movie industry has not done the world of parapsychology and the paranormal many good favours. It has capitalised on mysterious phenomena, exaggerated them, and invented intense scenarios to attract viewers. At some point, filmmakers discovered that claiming a movie is based on actual events would be enough to ignite even more interest. People debated back and forth, and the more emotions were stirred, the farther the reach.

The paranormal is inherently mysterious and may seem dark to the uninitiated, which appeals to thrill seekers. While I agree that some aspects of the supernatural may challenge our comfort zones, I know that the extreme situations depicted in movies are fabricated and, if they occur at all, are very rare. Producers and directors would have you believe otherwise because controlled fear creates strong reactions and can even trigger chemical responses, such as adrenaline, which can be addictive. They know people are naturally curious, and many will gravitate toward the thrills of life’s darker aspects.  Unfortunately, this means that many people develop distorted perspectives on the paranormal as fact becomes lost in fiction.

I am a healer and exorcist, and I have served in the church for many years. I have witnessed incredible, sometimes inexplicable, and occasionally inexplicable phenomena that some might call miracles. On rare occasions, I have encountered darker cases, but none have come close to the drama and theatrics of horror movies. It is my dream that one day the paranormal becomes more mainstream and part of school curricula, at least at an introductory level. This would eventually cast a more accurate and constructive light on the subject.
