The more you open your mind to the other side, the clearer your connections and communication become. To be a good recipient, one needs clarity within, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. Otherwise, the experience may become obscured or fail altogether. It is important to declutter the mind and discipline one’s thoughts. One must remain in control, which is a difficult task, especially when surrounded by many distractions, whether good or bad. However, it can be achieved with time and practice.

Before my sessions, if I find myself overwhelmed with thoughts and unable to contain them, I go for long, brisk walks in nature until I feel the excess energy has dissipated. I prepare for my sessions with a prayer and a grounding routine that I have devised for myself. If I am still unable to quiet my thoughts, I take a break and repeat the grounding routine. The process of becoming attuned should not be difficult and, when it is working properly, requires minimal effort. At times, I use visualisation to focus on a mental image that I project onto the opposite wall. Over the years, I have trained myself to visualise a cross on the wall and fix my attention on it, which helps me to focus.

I know when I am ready to begin. I feel a numbing sensation throughout my body. My visual focus softens, and time seems to slow. It feels as though my vibration has shifted, and I sense a physical change. At times, I drift into a pleasant state, and messages begin to come through before I have even met with my clients. When the session begins, I feel somewhat detached from the physical world. I do not lose my sense of orientation, but I experience a state of harmony and healing, a midway place that I hope to fully inhabit one day, a place I think of as home.
