When we bid a final farewell to a loved one, one of our most significant challenges is overcoming the profound sense that we have lost them forever. It is difficult to look beyond the grave, or any place of final rest, without feeling that this is the end. We think they are truly gone, and that we will never see them again. We have been taught to believe that death is the end of everything. Yet many cultures, long dismissed as primitive, have always embraced death as a sacred transition. Although they mourn, they also celebrate. In Ghana, for example, families hold vibrant gatherings filled with music, dancing, and joyful celebration. They believe the soul has completed its earthly mission and has now returned to the ancestors and God.
We are fortunate to live in a time when even science acknowledges that energy does not die. In the years to come, science will likely uncover more about this energy, bringing us closer to understanding the soul and the reality of life after death. I have served many individuals from the scientific and medical communities. Nearly all of them say they believe there is something beyond this life, even if they cannot define what it is. Many have witnessed events that defy explanation, leading them to question their long-held beliefs.
I may be blessed to have been born with the ability to connect with loved ones who have passed on. After more than forty years of spiritual work, I hold a deep and unshakable belief that life does not end with death. Just because we do not fully understand something does not mean it is not real. We are human, and we will naturally grieve. Mourning is an expression of love. We miss those who are no longer physically with us, and that longing is a natural part of the process. But we must also move beyond the old belief that physical death is the end. That idea serves no higher purpose. Instead, remind yourself of the greater truth.
Life is eternal. The soul does not die. Death is a doorway, not a wall. And in divine time, we will be reunited with our loved ones in a realm where love continues without end.
