A couple of days ago, the weather in London improved, so I decided to take an afternoon rest. I left my nine-year-old daughter in the front room, doing her homework, and I went to the bedroom, where I lay on the bed with meditation music playing quietly in the background.

I lay on my side with my back turned to the closed bedroom door. I was not asleep, but relaxing and enjoying the peace. Earlier that day, I had given a session and needed to recharge. I heard the bedroom door open and close briefly. I thought it must be my daughter checking on me, and that she would say something if she needed anything. I did not turn to look.

Soon after, I went into the front room and asked my daughter if she wanted anything. She said no and seemed surprised, so I asked, “Didn’t you open the bedroom door earlier?” She said no and explained that she had not left the front room. To put her mind at ease, I told her I must have been dreaming and dismissed it. However, I know for a fact I was not asleep, and I know someone opened and then closed the door.

I love it when loved ones on the other side stop by to say hello. It’s a comforting feeling, like a warm embrace from the universe, reminding me that we are never truly alone.
