We are often given glimpses, through the testimonies of those nearing the end of life, of gentle visitations from loved ones who have already crossed over. These sacred moments suggest that no one makes the journey alone. Rather, those who have gone before us seem to draw near, offering comfort, presence, and quiet guidance as the soul prepares to transition. Such experiences are most often reported by those on their deathbeds, in the final threshold between this world and the next. It carries the sense that our loved ones are aware, in ways we do not yet understand, of the moment when we are to leave this earthly life. How this knowing unfolds remains a mystery. Just as mysterious is the question of who is chosen to come forward and accompany us at that final hour.

This leads us to wonder about those whose passing is sudden or unexpected. What of those who leave the physical world through accident or violence, such as victims of murder? In these instances, where there is no time for conscious preparation, does the same loving presence await them, or does their journey differ?

“The two situations are different, and when preparation is not possible prior to a transition, the soul is still received by loved ones on the other side.”

In such cases, I was told that when a passing is accompanied by shock or disorientation, the soul is met with profound compassion and care. There is a period of gentle support and healing, allowing the individual to come into awareness and peace at their own pace. Nothing is rushed, and no one is left unattended. Each soul is held in a field of understanding, where comfort, restoration, and reassurance are offered freely. The guiding presence of loved ones, along with other benevolent helpers, ensures that even the most sudden departure is met with grace, and that the transition, though unexpected, is ultimately eased into harmony.
