It was always a mystery to me. Why do I not remember everything after my sessions? I may recall a few things, but overall, much of what happens seems to elude me. This can be awkward, especially when clients later refer to things I shared with them, and I have no recollection of them.

I used to feel slightly embarrassed because I never wanted anyone to think I did not care. The truth is that I genuinely cannot remember. I care deeply for every client and patient, and they feel it. They know I care, and I believe that is my saving grace.

I arranged to meet with my dear, elder friend Paula, a very intuitive psychotherapist, and shared my concerns with her.

“Garo, your service involves immersing yourself in other people’s heartache, and your ability sometimes takes you to much deeper levels. You have to reach these levels to help broken souls, restore their hope and dignity, and ease their pain. Spirit does not want you to remember too much of what you experience during your sessions. Otherwise, given your sensitivity, you would struggle to cope.”

It made sense. She was right. I am very sensitive, and I feel the pain of others when I see them suffering. I came to understand that I was being spared some of that pain, and I’m grateful.

Some of my sessions involve graphic details that I could quite happily do without. However, sometimes they’re necessary to share with loved ones on this side of life, helping them discover the truth and find closure.

I no longer feel awkward about this. I am open with my clients and explain the situation, and they fully understand. My clients may not have the same ability as I do, but that doesn’t make them any less intuitive. They can sense that I genuinely care about them, and in some cases, that I love them deeply.

Love is the essence of life and healing. It is also why we form connections with one another and remain linked to our loved ones on the other side.

Welcome to my world…
