I observe the animal kingdom with fascination, especially the remarkable intuition and sensitivity animals possess. Animals often demonstrate the ability to sense human emotions, support needs, anticipate transitions, and even detect environmental changes. This heightened attunement suggests that animals sometimes understand us in ways we may not fully comprehend.
Cats and dogs, in particular, are known for their sensitivity to energies or spirits, naturally perceiving what we cannot. Unfortunately, humans often do not understand or appreciate their behaviour, even when some of it could save our lives. There are countless documented cases of animals saving humans, with many showing that the intervention occurred before a disastrous moment. Videos of such events circulate widely on social media and make for fascinating viewing.
Perhaps one day we will learn to tap into this extraordinary ability and cultivate it ourselves. Human evolution could advance if we harnessed this knowledge, given its profound benefits. Interestingly, many older cultures and civilisations were far more attuned to the signs and behaviours of the animal kingdom than we are today. An Indian friend, who is also Hindu, once explained that animals have long been regarded as sentient beings with heightened sensitivity. They deserve not only our respect but also our willingness to learn from them.
Sadly, modern culture places overwhelming emphasis on material growth and gain. Spirituality is now undervalued, and the animal kingdom even more so, a neglect that may contribute to our contemporary lack of harmony and inner peace. Perhaps one day we will come to realise that the material world is far more limited than we once believed. This may even help explain why so many accounts describe loved ones on the other side as expressing profound joy, freed from the constraints of material existence.
