This post may be slightly controversial, as it reflects both my personal views and communications from loved ones who have transitioned to the other side.
The question is this: How important is what happens to one’s body after one’s passing? What if surviving loved ones are unable to fulfil the wishes of someone who has passed? For instance, what if someone asked to be buried, but circumstances changed, and cremation became the more affordable option? What if they wished to be buried in a specific place or have their ashes scattered, but, for reasons beyond their loved ones’ control, those wishes could not be fulfilled?
You might be surprised to learn how common this situation is and how many people are left feeling conflicted as a result.
What we need to understand is that, while some of us may have specific wishes about what we would like done with our bodies after we pass, those who transition to the other side come to understand that the body was nothing more than a vessel, suited to our earthly incarnation. We move beyond that physical shell, and our spirit, who we truly are, continues to exist eternally, unlike the body we leave behind.
Our loved ones on the other side would still like us to make every effort to honour their wishes, out of respect and appreciation. However, if we are genuinely unable to do so, it is not the end of the world. They have already, quite literally, moved on from their physical bodies, which may have been suffocating or debilitating, and embraced their true selves as their transition to the other side began.
The best thing we can do for them is to send them our loving thoughts and allow ourselves to be happy. Above all else, they want us to be happy, now and always.
