Someone once asked me, “Is there humour on the other side? Do people laugh and joke? Or is it always serious?”

Based on my experience as a reader for over forty years, connecting with loved ones in spirit, I can confidently say that laughter and joy are abundant. The other side is a place of peace and love, as close as we can imagine to heaven itself. In that space, happiness feels natural. Smiles, laughter, and lightheartedness flow easily because an overwhelming sense of love surrounds them. Nearly every session I have ever offered has ended with heartfelt smiles. Jokes are often shared, and there is playful teasing for loved ones here. They love to make us laugh and to see us happy, because laughter and smiling are among the purest expressions of love.

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to them.”

Children live with joy, curiosity, laughter, and innocent fun. These are angelic qualities, and they are treasured in heaven. Growing up should not mean losing them, yet too often we do. Life becomes complicated, and we forget how to be simple, playful, and free. A significant part of our failure is that we are taking ourselves too seriously. Without smiles and laughter, we are not truly living. Life is meant to be enjoyed, and the other side is rich with that same joy, laughter, and love.

Ultimately, it is always our choice whether to be happy. As for me, I know that when I arrive on the other side, I will be giggling, laughing, and tickling the hearts of others, just as I do here.
