Whenever I am asked to attend a house with a supernatural disturbance, I always share the same advice with the occupants after completing my work:
“This is your home, your space. Curb your fear and stand your ground. Let your voice be heard.”
I try my best to empower the occupants, reminding them that they are in control, not the intrusive energies. Of course, words can only go so far. Their fear is real, and depending on the depth and intensity of the initial disturbances, it may take time to fade. My responsibility is to keep reassuring them that the nightmare has ended, even when it truly has. But remember, you are not alone in this, and you have the power to overcome these disturbances.
In most cases, disturbances may unsettle occupants but are usually harmless unless they escalate. However, the impact of the shocking physical manifestations should never be underestimated or dismissed. Such occurrences catch us off guard because they challenge the limits of our understanding. When we see a chair move on its own, for instance, our immediate reaction is to ask who or what is doing that and how the chair can move by itself. I, on the other hand, expect physical manifestations, chairs moving, objects flying, noises, and I do not think of them as impossible.
Over the years, I have learned to expect the unexpected. We who live on this side of life are the intruders, not the other way around. Because I accept this perspective, I am less shocked when such events occur. Expecting them allows me to feel more confident and capable of carrying out my task.
The best way to deal with the supernatural is to step outside our comfort zone, to move beyond the belief that two plus two must always equal four, a belief that limits our understanding of the unknown, and to accept that anything and everything is possible.
