I’ve experienced a few déjà vus in my time, but yesterday’s was unlike any I’d felt before. We had friends over for lunch and had laid out a generous spread of Lebanese dishes on the dining table. The atmosphere was warm and lively, filled with shared stories and plenty of laughter.
At one point, one of our guests began discussing gardening with my wife, recommending different plants he thought would be perfect for our garden. I listened, trying to mentally note the plant names he mentioned. Suddenly, I felt as though we’d had this exact conversation before. The sense of familiarity was so intense that I could predict what he would say next. I turned to my wife, bewildered, and told her what I was experiencing. The déjà vu was so strong that I became fully aware of it as it was happening—a strangely unnerving experience that, fortunately, passed as quickly as it began.
While I don’t have a clear explanation for déjà vus, people seem to have different theories. Are they merely “glitches in the matrix” or a type of neurological phenomenon? Or do they hint at a parallel universe that we occasionally, unknowingly, tap into?
Have you ever had a déjà vu? What’s your take on it?
