Déjà vu is a fascinating phenomenon that we know relatively little about. It mostly occurs as a sense of familiarity with a place we have never visited or seen before, and we feel with firm conviction that we have been there.
However, it does not stop at places. It also happens with people we meet when we feel as though we have known them before. Déjà vu can occur on many levels: when eating a new dish that feels familiar or when encountering certain smells, music, or other experiences. Sometimes, we feel a déjà vu so strongly that it is almost unsettling. For instance, you may go to a hospital and find yourself standing in front of a specific room that gives you a horrible, familiar feeling, and you cannot bear to go inside. In this type of déjà vu, it is not the room itself but the feeling you associate with it, even though you have never been there before.
Some people attribute déjà vu to a previous life and believe it is strong evidence of reincarnation. I agree to some degree, but I don’t think this fully explains why we sometimes stop mid-conversation with someone and remark that it feels as though we’ve had the same exchange before. Is it all part of the same phenomenon, or are there different types of déjà vu?
I wonder what triggers déjà vu and why it occurs in the first place. Is it possible that we may be shifting through different timelines or dimensions, or is déjà vu merely an echo from our past lives?
I wonder…
