A few days ago, I had a session with a lady whose husband came through from the other side. He expressed his gratitude to her for being with him and staying by his side until the very end. It was imperative to him that she understood how thankful he was, because few, if any, of his so-called loved ones were present when he needed them most. They were certainly around when he was in better health and when they needed financial help.

Despite his diminishing cognitive abilities, the husband was not oblivious to his wife’s presence. He acknowledged details known only to the two of them, a testament to his heightened awareness. It was a fascinating revelation of how aware our loved ones can be before their passing, challenging our assumptions of their unawareness. I am left pondering whether they perceive us through hearing, sight, or a heightened sensitivity that arises as life draws to a close. This is not the first time I have encountered such an experience. I once had a session with a man who had dementia, and after his passing, he was able to recount specific details proving that he had been aware, at least to some degree, of his surroundings.

Perhaps one day we will learn more about this fascinating phenomenon, which I believe is a form of heightened spiritual awareness that defies medical explanation. It is not unlike accounts of out-of-body experiences during surgery, in which a patient later recalls and describes precise details known only to those present in the operating room.

I was deeply moved when, before the session ended, the gentleman inspired me to share a message with his wife. I made a point of remembering it:

“In the end, when you have nothing more to give but your love, not money, not anything else, you will see those who truly love you by your side.”
