I have never sleepwalked and have no recollection of ever doing so. However, years ago, I had a puzzling experience that still baffles me.
At the time, I had recently begun my work as an exorcist and healer. Exorcism is nothing like what is portrayed in movies; there are no dramatic effects or sensational theatrics, except in rare cases. My primary focus was on removing spells, curses, and magic, particularly of Arabian origin. You would be amazed at how much of this exists. People came to the church suffering from debilitating conditions, often displaying distinct physical symptoms as a result of these afflictions.
For convenience, I stayed at my parents’ home. I was alone in the house and slept in my own bedroom, which was spacious, comfortable, and warm. One night, I went to bed at my usual time, without indicating anything was amiss. I slept soundly.
I woke up in bed the following day but in a completely different room. I had never slept in that bedroom before, and I had no idea how or why I ended up there. Confused and disoriented, I sat up, feeling a strange heaviness in my head, a numbness that made it difficult to focus, much like the grogginess one experiences after anaesthesia.
Still disoriented, I went to take a shower. That’s when I noticed them; long, distinct red scratches on my neck and left shoulder. They didn’t hurt, but the sight of them disturbed me deeply. I had no explanation for their appearance or what could have caused them, and this lack of understanding added to my unease. Though I still cannot explain what happened that night, I knew one thing for sure: it was deeply unsettling, whatever it was. Later that day, I opened the windows, recited the Lord’s Prayer, and cleansed the house. I never experienced anything like it again, and it did not deter me from my service at the church.
